Elsie Pearl Roddy of Melbourne, daughter of the late Robert Cheatham and Kitty Langston, was born August 3, 1907. She died July 9, 1995 at Pioneer Nursing Home in Melbourne at the age of 87.

Pearl was united to Nathan Roddy at Newbery and to this union one child was born. She spent her life as a homemaker and was a member of the Belview Baptist Church in Melbourne.

Mrs. Roddy is survived by her son, Delano Roddy of Garland, Texas; two sisters, Pearl Rush of Melbourne and Lola Tidwell of Phoenix, Arizona; one brother, Charles Cheatham of Melbourne; seven grandchildren and twenttwo great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, Novella Gossage, Effie Lawrence and Bertie Knowles and one daughter.

Services were held Wednesday, July 12 at Howard Chapel in Melbourne with Reverend Doyne Robertson officiating.

Pallbearers were Ronald Cheatham, Danny Moser, Larry Lawrence, Mike Cone, Loye D. Lawrence and Tom Cone.

Interment was at the Page Cemetery in Melbourne under the direction of Howard Funeral Home in Melbourne.
