Leon Oels, 70, a resident of Good Samaritan Society in Mountain Home since 2007 passed away Friday September 23, 2011, at Mountain Home.

He was born in Mountain Home on August 31, 1941, to John F. and Anna Mae Cox Oels. Leon graduated from Mountain Home High School and joined the Marines, serving during the Vietnam War. After being discharged, Leon returned to Mountain Home and worked at Starlight Drive In and Roller Rink. He also worked construction, set water pumps with his brother and was a plumber. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Melody and Mike Miron, Micky and Greg DeYoung and Pam Caple; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lois and Bob Hopper and Yvonne and Dave Ross; a sister-in-law; six grandchildren; three nephews; three nieces; and special friends, Juanita and John, Rebecca and Richard, Brenda, Charlene and Don and everyone at Good Samaritan Society.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, October 2, 2011, at the Lower Oakland Cemetery, County Road 390, Mountain Home with Mr. Wayne Camp officiating. Music will be provided by the Oakland Church of Christ A cappella group.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the Lower Oakland Cemetery Association, c/o Jackie Power, 552 Florence Drive, Mountain Home, Arkansas 72653.
