A. A. Dowdle Dies In Local Hospital
A. A. "Alva" Dowdle, a long time resident of the vicinity of Oxford, passed away in Izard County Memorial Hospital Thursday, June 28, after a brief illness.
His companion of the home, the former Flora Swink, survives him, as do also two grandchildren who live in Washington State. Mr. Dowdle was a retired farmer and had been in poor health for many years.
Memorial services for the deceased were conducted Monday afternoon, July 2, at the Spring Hill Schoolhouse near Oxford, by the Rev. F. J. Light of Mountain Grove, Mo. Burial was made in the Spring Hill Cemetery by Hall Funeral Service of Melbourne under the direction of Roman Howard, director.
Casket bearers were Noble Rowden, Ed Kankey, Jim Graham, Ernest Pinkston, Leonard Wyatt and Earl McVey.
