White River Current, Calico Rock, Arkansas, August 28, 1997:
Samuel Ray Neal of Calico Rock, son of the late Dennie and Betty Chadwick Neal was born March 9, 1920 in Oxford. He died August 21, 1997 in Salem. He was 77.
Mr. Neal was united in marriage to Thelma Kytle March 4, 1951 in Calico Rock. He was a World War II Veteran and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three daughters, Charlie Clay of Kansas City, Kansas; Thelma Pirtle of Olathe, Kansas and Mary Jones of Melbourne; four sons, Johnnie Neal of Edgeton, Kansas; Raymond Neal of Olathe, Kansas; Bobbie Neal of Sedalia, Missouri and David Neal of Gardner, Kansas; one sister, Ola Miller of Calico Rock; 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, one sister and one brother.
Services were held August 24, 1997 at Howard Funeral Home in Melbourne with Brother Mike Haney officiating.
Pallbearers were Johnnie Neal Raymond Neal, Bobbie Neal, David Neal, Richard Roggenkamp, Steven Neal and Jeremy Jones. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Pirtle, Dean Clay and Billy Jones.
Interment was at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Brockwell under the direction of Howard Funeral Home in Melbourne.
