GRAVETTE — Edna Ella Jordon, 89, of Gravette passed away April 2, 2011, at the Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. She was born in Roland, Okla., on June 25, 1921, to John A. and Lily Mae DeWitt Cooper.
She moved to McDonald County, Mo., as a small child where she spent most of her adult life before moving to Bentonville in 1967. She was a member of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Edna married her childhood sweetheart, William Henry Jordon, on Feb. 4. 1944, in Bentonville, Ark., just days before he was shipped to the Pacific.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Sterling Cooper; and her husband of 51 years; and two great-grandchildren, Alyssa Gann-Laughlin and Jordan Laughlin.
Survived by two brothers, Bill Cooper and wife Doris of Grove, Okla., and Marion Cooper and wife Joyce of Powell, Mo.; one sister, Opal Blevins-Hurd of Goodman, Mo.; one daughter, Gloria and husband Vern Laughlin of Gravette; two grandchildren, Chad Laughlin and wife Shelley of Noel, Mo., and Kasey States and husband William of Carrollton, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Alec Laughlin of Noel, Natasha and Chloe Duke of Carrollton. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. Fourth St., Rogers.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church near Hiwasse, with Brother Ernest Lastovica officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Vern Laughlin, Chad Laughlin, William States, Jack Cooper, Johnnie Blevins and Howard Spears.
