Lewis Alexander "Alex" Gilbert husband of Martha Eaferim Catherine (McVey) Gilbert. Lewis Alexander "Alex" Gilbert son of James Washington "Wash" Gilbert & Zilfa Elizabeth "Lizzie Slack" Gilbert. Alex was born in Protem, Taney County, Missouri and died in Brockwell, Izard County, Arkansas.

L. A. Gilbert Services At Brockwell

Lewis Alexander Gilbert son of the late Wash and Lizzie Slack Gilbert, was born at Protem, Mo., on October 14, 1880. He departed this life at his home near Brockwell, Ark., on February 4, 1960 at the age of 79 years, 3 months and 20 days. He was united in marriage to Martha McVey at Newburg, Ark., on September 19, 1906 and to this union six children were born. He was preceded in death by two of his children. He leaves to mourn his passing, his companion of the home; one daughter, Mrs Emma Rush of Brockwell; three sons, Riley and Everett both of Brockwell and Harlin of Olathe, Kan.; one brother, Henry Gilbert of Springfield, Mo.; ten grandchildren' three great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many many friends.

Mr Gilbert had been a member of the Baptist Church for fifty-one years.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, February 7 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Archie Shirley of Wideman, Ark., and Rev. Lehmon Dobbins of Zion, Ark., officiating.

Interment was in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Carter Funeral Service of Salem.

Pallbearers were Clarence Blevins, Otis Melton, Chester Melton, Tim Rains, Bill Garner and Leonard Giltner.
