CAMDEN - Melvin O. Hooks, 66, of East Camden died Thursday at his home. He was a retired construction worker and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ruth Dailey Hooks of Camden; eight sons, Marion Hooks of Camden, Merle Hooks of Crossett, Louis Hooks of Belview, Calif., Cecil Hooks and Russel Hooks, both of El Dorado, Joe Hooks of San Pablo, Calif., Jack Hooks of Portland, Ore., and Bill Hooks of Pine Bluff; six daughters, Mrs. Joe Ross, Mrs. Bill Jefferys, Mrs. Tommy Pitts and Mrs. Merelyn Chandler, all of Camden, Mrs. F. L. Loomis of El Dorado, and Mrs. Lee Green of Junction City; a brother, Thomas H. Hooks of Monroe, La.; three sister, Mrs. Lillia Carter of Monroe, Mrs. Irene Brewer of Crossett and Mrs. Minnie Willit of Bastrop; and 33 grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Frazier Funeral Home in Warren. Burial will be in Adams Cemetery in Bradley County under direction of Frazier Funeral Home.
