GEORGE, Emma HOWERTON - Miss Emma Howerton was born in Indiana June 11th, 1868 where she resided until seventeen years of age when the family moved to Benton County, Arkansas and located north of Rogers. She was married to L.H. George on the 4th day of December 1887. To this union were born eight children, five boys and three girls, all of whom remain to mourn the loss of a faithful mother, one son being in U.S. Service in France, and one in the ship yards in Washington; the other three being present at the time of her death. One daughter, Mrs. Lenderman, was with her mother for sometime this summer, just returning to her home about ten days ago; the other daughters, Mrs. Stoner and a younger sister, being faithful in the care of their mother during her months and years of suffering. Mrs. George leaves, besides her children, an aged father, three brothers and one sister, who spent some weeks with her during the summer, as did also one of the brothers, Ernest Howerton and wife, residing southwest of Gentry, were faithful in visiting and assisting. In 1882 she became a Christian under the teachings of the Church of Christ of which she has remained a faithful member. Her ambition {after the death of her husband July 23, 1913} to carry out and keep up the work as planned by him proved too heavy a burden and after nearly three years of faithful struggle tuberculosis set in and did its fearful work. She passed away at 8 p.m. Aug. 25th, 1918 and was laid to rest in the Bozarth cemetery beside the remains of her husband on the 27th of August. Elder O.L. Sumner.
