Leon C. Montgomery, of Melbourne, AR, son of the late Tom E. and Bertha L. Rowden Montgomery was born February 18, 1922, in Mammoth Springs, AR. He departed this life Sunday afternoon, December 23, 1990 at the Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, AR, at the age of 68 years, 10 months and 5 days.
Leon was united in marriage to Lorene P. Montgomery on December 24, 1939 in Mountain View, AR, and to this union 4 children - 2 sons and 2 daughters - were born.
Leon spent his working years as an Auctioneer and Livestock Dealer. He was of the Baptist faith.
Leon leaves to mourn his passing: wife, Lorene P. Montgomery of the home, 2 sons: Robert Montgomery of Camden, AR and Marcus Montgomery of Searcy, AR, 1 daughter. Joan Gann of Searcy, AR, 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 1 brother; Doyle Montgomery, of North Little Rock, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter.
Services were held Thursday, December 27, 1990, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Melbourne, AR, with Bro. Doyne Robertson officiating and music by Gayle Cooper. Serving as pallbearers were Al Gillihan, Danny Perryman, Jeff Gillihan, Conway Miller, Doyle Cooper, Tom Cone, David Sharp, Newt Blankenship and Charles Miller. Interment in the Melbourne Cemetery, Melbourne, AR, under the direction of the Howard Funeral Home, Melbourne, AR.
