BANKS, M.L. - M.L. Banks, father of Mrs. J.A. Steward of this place, died last Friday, June 5, at his old home place on Pea Ridge, being at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Nannie Bookout. Mr. Banks had been sick for some time. M.L. Banks was born in Tennessee July 10, 1831 and was 77 years old at the time of his death. He united with the Christian church in early life and was ever since a faithful worker for the Master. He was married to Jane Stroud in 1858 who preceded him to the Celestial home in 1898. Ten children were born to bless the union, four of whom had gone before, six remaining to mourn their sad loss. The body was laid to rest in the Webb cemetery on Pea Ridge Sunday, June 7th under the auspices of the F. & A.M. Lodge of that place, and attended by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends. He was a good neighbor, a kind father and a consistent Christian; now to enjoy the reward of those who are faithful. He suffered long but never murmured. While we feel our loss, we know it is his gain. J.A. Steward. The News joins the friends of the family in extending condolence.

BANKS, Mrs. M.L. (STROUD) -On Nov. 15, 1898 the Death Angel came to the home of Bro. M.L. Banks and took his dear wife. Sister Banks' maiden name was Stroud. She was born July 25, 1837. She obeyed the gospel in her sixteenth year; was baptized by Bro. Nix Murphy in Warren county, Tennessee. She was married Nov. 14, 1854. Ten children were the fruits of this union. Two died in childhood; four sons and four daughters were at her bedside during her sickness and did all they could for dear mother. To her husband she was a wife, true noble and self-sacrificing. To her children she was a mother indeed. To friends she was a friend to the end. No sacrifice was too great for her love, no duty too small to receive her performance. H.L. Wilson, Pea Ridge, Ark.
