June 26 1849 - Aug 20 1911
*Obituary
Rogers Democrat
Thursday, August 24, 1911
ADAMS, Dave - Dave Adams died Sunday morning at ten o'clock at his residence on South Arkansas St. after a severe illness of several weeks at the age of 62 years, one month and 26 days. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. C.H. Christopher, on South Third St. and were conducted by Rev. L.L. Brannon and Rev. J.P. Dillon. There was a large attendance at the funeral. By the death of Mr. Adams Rogers loses one of its best known and most popular citizens. Always good natured, always greeting his friends with a smile, always hunting a chance to spring a new joke or to get off some apt witticism, "Dave" was one of the most familiar figures of the street and few of our citizens would be missed by a larger circle of friends. He was a living reminder of "laugh and the world laughs with you" and every smile made him a friend. The following obituary was handed us by Rev. L.L. Brannon: Dave Adams was born in Farmington, Ill. June 26, 1849. He was united in marriage to Hannah J. Harris at Farmington in May 1853. To this union was given four children, one of which with the wife have preceded him across the river that divides us from the life that is to come. In July 1907 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Susie Stringer of Rogers, who with the three children from the former marriage, Mrs. C.H. Christopher, Mrs. Francis Orr and Jefferson Adams, with many friends are left to mourn his departure. Mr. Adams came with his family to Northern Arkansas March 5, 1886 and settled near Osage Mills where he engaged in farming. He came to Rogers in 1891 and engaged in the stock business for a few years after which he entered the real estate business. His success in this business needs no comment as the firm of Adams & Christopher has become one of the most widely known and successful real estate firms of Northwest Arkansas. Mr. Adams was a good neighbor and a kind hearted father; he spent most of his life in doing good deeds for his family and friends, especially for those who were neglected by others. Although he was not a church member he was always proud of its advancement and although he often jollied the preachers he considered himself their warm friend. Mr. Adams may have been unfortunate in many things but he was certainly wonderfully blessed by having many friends wherever he lived whose hearts are saddened at the news of his death.
