ADAMS, Jeff - Jeff Adams, only son of the late Dave Adams, died Monday morning in the hospital at Siloam Springs, the result of injuries sustained in the K.C. & M. yards here last week while braking on that road. He was standing on the end of a box car and fell to the track below when the train bumped into the car in making a coupling. He suffered internal injuries and his condition was considered serious from the first. The remains were brought to Rogers for burial Monday afternoon. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Grace Christopher of Leesburg, Fla. and Mrs. Fannie Rees of Kansas. Mrs. Rees was called here Friday morning by the accident and was with her brother when he died.

ADAMS, Jefferson Guy - Jefferson Guy Adams was born in Farmington, Coles Co., Ill. May 30, 1880 and departed this life Dec. 11, 1916 at Siloam Springs, Ark., aged 36 years, 6 months and 11 days. He came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Adams, to Arkansas in 1886. The family resided on their farm in the Osage Valley until 1892 when they moved to Rogers to have the benefit of the schools and the children entered Rogers Academy. Jefferson was a student there for eight years. His occupation thru life has always been railroading. Even when a boy his greatest delight at play was in playing train or constructing an engine or some other contrivance that his imagination could fancy a train. In 1903 he began work with the construction gang for the A.O. & W. now the K.C. & M.R.R. The railroad was finished in 1905 and since that time he had worked almost continuously as brakeman and assistant conductor. The past year his run had been from Siloam Springs to Rogers. That year was the best of his life for he lived quiet, sober and industrious. There was never a day but that he was at his post of duty. His fellow railroad companions all held him in high esteem and he made friends with all who knew him. His home was at the Commercial Hotel at Siloam and in the words of the landlady I quote, "we all loved Jeff." His death was due to an accident received while on duty in the yards at Rogers. The train was switching and he was climbing up on the rear end of a box car and he was thrown to the ground. His right hip struck the rail of an opposite switch track and he was injured internally. Death is always sad and when a young man is suddenly taken away by accident it seems doubly so. While he lingered between life and death for several days his suffering was intense but was borne with patience and endurance. The end came quietly and peacefully. His sister, Mrs. N. Rees of Independence, Kan. was with him to the last. After his death his body was brought to Rogers where a most impressive and appropriate funeral service was conducted in the parlors of the Presbyterian church by Rev. T.E. McSpadden. There was a large number of his friends, as well as friends of the family present. All trains on the K.C. & M. railway were annulled and the railroad employees were in attendance to pay their last sad rites to their fellow workman. Besides Mrs. Rees he leaves another sister, Mrs. Grace Christopher of Leesburg, Fla. who have the sympathy of a host of friends in the loss of an only brother. A Friend.
