MEEKS, Ruth Eleanor - Miss Ruth Eleanor Meeks died last Thursday morning, the 22nd, at the home of her brother, Ed Meeks, at Guys, Tenn. The body was brought to Rogers for burial in the family lot and was accompanied here by her brother, Ed Meeks, and her nephew, Felix Meeks. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church at 3:30 Saturday afternoon and were conducted by the pastor, Rev. A.A. DuLaney. Miss Meeks was a native of Mississippi and was born at Kossuth, that state, March 1, 1854. She was a sister of F.Z. Meeks, for many years a well known Rogers merchant, and came to Rogers with her mother and sister in 1894 and until 1916 lived on South Second street. After the death of F.Z. Meeks and wife she and her sister assumed the care of the home and raised the three boys, Felix, Fletcher and Donnell, going with them to Missouri when they were ready for college. Miss Levia Meeks died several years ago. Miss Ella had gone to Guys for the winter and while there became ill and died. She was an aunt of Mrs. W.A. Ijams of Rogers. She had been a member of the Baptist church all her life and a consistent and faithful worker in that denomination.
