Mrs. Dolores Frances Lasker - Gatling, 75, of Henrico, Virginia departed this life Wednesday January 4, 2012. She was born in Conway, AR on June 16, 1936 (the oldest of 12 siblings) to the late Mae Opal Cornett and Sylvanus Lasker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Gatling Sr. In 1994 Dolores Gatling established Tiffanies Manor for Young Adults, and is one of the largest Black owed assisted living facilities in historical downtown Richmond.
She is survived by one son, Luther Gatling Jr.; two daughters, Josephine Gatling and Sandra (Mark Steven) Bennett; Five adopted children, Antonia, Micheal, Shawn, Jason & Demishia Gatling; Eight grandchildren, Tiffanie Nicole Gatling, Mark Steven Bennett II, Marvin Stephone' Bennett, Benjamin Jerome Thompson, Kia Hewlett, Mya Hewlett, Kayla Hewlett and Jeazon; Seven brothers, Johnnie Lee (Kara) Lasker, Billy Charles Lasker, Vernon (Mae Arlene) Lasker, Herman (Essie) Lasker, Lloyd (Janie) Lasker, Sylvanus (Carol) Lasker, and Clarence (Alberta) Lasker; Two sisters, Barbara Jean (Taft) Gault and Doris Marie Dawson. One sister in law, Algetha (Jerry) Jones and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
