KRUSE, Henry W - Henry W Kruse died Friday morning at his home in the southwest part of town after an extended illness at the age of 83 years. He had been failing for some time and his death was not unexpected. Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon at two o'clock and were conducted by Rev. C.C. Cunningham of the Baptist church, assisted by Rev. C.K. Jones of the First M.E. church. Interment was in the Rogers cemetery by the side of his wife who died some years ago. Mr. Kruse had been a resident of Rogers for 32 years, coming here from Minnesota. He was a native of Ohio. He had lived in the same house since coming to Rogers and the Kruse farm is probably the largest undivided tract of land within the city limits today. While the family is one of the oldest and best known in Rogers the farm has gained more than local fame as the site of the so-called "Kruse gold mine." The deceased, however, had no part in the promotion or exploitation of that project. Mr. Kruse is survived by three sons and three daughters: Will H. Kruse of Minneapolis, Minn.; Ed and Henry Kruse of Vinton, Ia.; Mrs. L.E. Scriver and Mrs. M.V. Deason of Rogers and Mrs. J.P. Huber, whose home is in Minneapolis but who has lived here and cared for her father for a number of years. Two daughters, Mrs. L.M. Proctor and Miss Jessie Kruse, died in the last few years. All of the children were here save Henry who could not leave home because of sickness in his own family. The deceased was a quiet unassuming man who attended strictly to his own affairs and took no part in civic activities. And yet he was a man of deep convictions and was interested in all that transpired. He read much and his greatest grievance at ill health and failing eyesight was that he could not read his favorite books and papers. He was loved by all that knew him and was always a favorite with the children - a true test of a man's real character.
