1889 - March 23, 1966
Mrs. Leeta Benson, aged 76 of 516 Clifton St., NW died at her home at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Benson was the widow of Fred P. Benson former City Clerk of Camden. She was born in Texas but moved to Camden at an early age. She was the daughter of Clatten C. and Bernice Wells Gardenhire, and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She is survived by two daughters, Miss Frances Benson of Camden, and Mrs. Charles Power of Georgetown, S.C.; one brother, S. B. Gardenhire of Camden; two sisters, Mrs. C. M. Haynes of Camden, and Mrs. E. A. Mitchell of Santa Fe, N. M.; and by four grandchildren, Frances, Carolyn, Charles, and Benson Power all of Georgetown, S.C. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Proctor Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. (Camden News - March 24, 1966)
