BROCKWELL - William Cecil Sherrell, 78, of Brockwell died Saturday, April 26, 2003, at a Batesville hospital.
Born Aug. 17, 1924, at Brockwell, he was the son of Robert and Myrtle McCurley Sherrell. He was employed as Izard County tax assessor for six years, was a self-employed farmer and a musician. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Oxford Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Lee Sherrell; a son, Jerry Sherrell of Little Rock; a daughter, Peggy Curtis of Brockwell; four brothers, Dale Sherrell and Darrell Sherrell, both of Oxford, Harlin Sherrell of Buffalo, Mo., and Shelby Sherrell of Myron; a sister, Armelda Everett of Oxford; seven grandchildren, Rick Skidmore, Brad Skidmore, Kelly Perkins, Amber Puckett, Antwuane McCuien, Barbie Baty and Sheila Miller; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Oma Robbins; three brothers, Lloyd Sherrell, Verl Sherrell and Hearl Sherrell; and a great-granddaughter, McKinley Skidmore.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Oxford Baptist Church with Duane Flood officiating. Burial will be in Oxford Cemetery with arrangements by Eddie's Family Funeral Home of Melbourne.
Pallbearers will be Rick Skidmore, Brad Skidmore, Alan Sherrell, Russell Sherrell, Randy Sherrell and Michael Watson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Sherrell, Darrell Sherrell, Shelby Sherrell, Harlin Sherrell, Charles Sherrell, Timmy Sherrell, Levern Garner, Ronnie Robbins, Lee Campbell Watson and Wayburn Watson.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight.
