George 'Vown' Herzig age 70 of Strawberry died Sunday January 8, 2012 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born July 24, 1941 at Batesville, Arkansas to Pete and Hazel Herzig. He was retired from ConAgra Foods in Batesville with 35 years of service and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years Claudia Herzig of the home; one son, Bobby Herzig of Oklahoma City, OK; one daughter, Patti Sprague and husband Rick of Empire, CO; two brothers, Joe 'Harold' Herzig of Batesville, AR and Roy Herzig of Texarkana, AR; two grandchildren, Ryan Kelley of Huntsville, AR and Whitney Huskey of Tempe, AZ.; one great grandchild, Kameron Kelley of Bentonville, AR.; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will begin Friday, January 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Bro. Craig Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the Ward Cemetery located at Strawberry with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Visitation will begin Thursday, January 12, 2012 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Ken Baumann, Tim Crouch, Michael Hagar, Jason Hagar, Rondall Hagar and Jerry Winkle.
Honorary pallbearers are Richard Sprague, George Jackson and Chris Hatman.
