OXFORD — Osbie Dale Sherrell, 80, of Oxford died Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, in Batesville.

Born June 26, 1927, in Brockwell, he was the son of William Robert Sherrell and Ollie Myrtle McCurley Sherrell. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, attaining the rank of private first class. He was united in marriage to Lillie Mae Floyd on May 12, 1951, in Brockwell.

He often traveled to Washington for the fruit harvest, worked in construction, ran a milk route for 20 years and worked at ConAgra. After his retirement from ConAgra, he went to work for the Izard County Senior Citizens Center as a driver.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years; two sons, Alan Sherrell of Oxford and Tim Sherrell of Calico Rock; four daughters, Judy Crafton of Cave City, Lorraine Johnson and Lesha Hurst, both of Mammoth Spring, and Karen Stevenson of Batesville; three brothers, Darrell Sherrell of Oxford, Harlen Sherrell of Buffalo, Mo., and Shelby Sherrell of Myron; a sister: Armilda Everett of Melbourne; 12 grandchildren, Jimmy Crafton, Chad Taylor, Brad Johnson, Justin Sherrell, Aaron Crafton, Preston Sherrell, Marty Stevenson, Missy McBride, Mandy Lawrence, Misty Jeffrey, Crystal Massey and Kim Young; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Lloyd Sherrell, Vearl Sherrell, Cecil Sherrell and Hearl Sherrell; and a sister, Oma Robbins.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oxford Cemetery under the direction of Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Crafton, Chad Taylor, Brad Johnson, Justin Sherrell, Jason Lawrence and Billy McBride.

Honorary pallbearers are Aaron Crafton, Preston Sherrell, Marty Stevenson, Missy McBride, Mandy Lawrence, Misty Jeffrey, Crystal Massey and Kim Young.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight.
