M. F. 'Pea' Prater was born 1855 and died in January 1888, during an ice storm which required that he be buried near their homestead in this remote location. His grave is the only grave here, which is located in the SW 1/4 of the SE 1/4 of Section 20, Township 13 North, Range 25 West; which is about 4 miles south of Pettigrew, Arkansas. He was the husband of Caroline JOHNSON Prater; and they were the parents of six young children, ages 1 to 12 years of age when he died.
