Norfork woman dies in Tuesday wreck
A 72-year-old Baxter County woman died Tuesday after a one vehicle wreck on AR Highway 5 South.
Esta Mae Foster of Norfork was northbound on AR Highway 5 when she apparently lost control of the 2000 Chevrolet S14 pickup she was driving, according to Arkansas State Police Trooper Paul Fry, who investigated the wreck.
The accident occurred about 10:20 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 5 and Freedom Way, the trooper reported.
According to Fry, Foster was negotiating a slight left curve when the pickup went off the east side of the road.
The truck traveled a short distance on the shoulder of the highway, then Foster apparently over corrected the vehicle, according to the report.
Foster’s truck slid back onto the highway, crossed both lanes of traffic and again went off the road, this time traveling down a steep embankment, Fry reported.
Foster’s truck came to rest on its top against a large tree. — From staff report

Mrs. Esta Mae “Sally” Foster, age 76 of Norfork passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Baxter Regional Medical Center. Esta Mae Foster was born November 27, 1935 in Norfork to Otto F. and Virginia L. (Warner) Teegarden. She married Noel D. Foster February 9, 1952 in Norfork. She was a member of the Dolph Baptist Church. Mrs. Foster enjoyed gardening, canning, and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Esta Mae Foster is survived by her 6 sons, David Lynn Foster (Judy) of Norfork, Jerry P. Foster (Linda) of Norfork, Gary Foster (Debbie Sanders) of Bakersfield, Ricky Foster (Teresa) of Pineville, Larry Foster of Norfork, Terry Foster (Deanna) of Jordan, 1 daughter; Diane Sherrill (Shannon) of Norfork, 5 sisters; Jessie Marie Napier of Old Joe, Lena Parnell of Salesville, Gay Loosey of Norfork, Shirley Sutterfield of Jordan, Rosey Stapleton of Calico Rock, 1 brother; Noel Teegarden of Norfork, 30 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, and 1 sister.
Visitation for Mrs. Foster will be Noon – 9 PM Friday at Roller Funeral Home with the family receiving friends 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday in the Galatia Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in Galatia Cemetery.
