Charles V. Pummill

Charles Virgil Pummill, 77, of Oxford departed this life Aug. 12, 2002, at his home.

Pummill was born Aug. 26, 1924, in Champaign, Ill. He was married to the former Marianna Bennett 29 years until her death. Following her death his companion for 18 years was Peg Danus until her death in 2000.
Pummill was a former police officer in Urbana, Ill. He also served in the U.S. Navy.

He leaves to mourn his passing two daughters: Marilyn Place of Land O'Lakes, Fla., and Valeria Pummill of Zephyrhills, Fla.; two sisters: Cleone Place of Urbana, Ill., and Thelma Wright of Sidney, Ill.; four grandchildren: Chuck Place and his wife Natalie, Don Place and his wife Sheri, Dan Place and his wife Silvana, and Joe Place and his wife Jennifer; six great-grandchildren; and a host of other friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and companion.
A graveside service was held Aug. 14 at the Oxford Cemetery with Ken Caldwell officiating. Arrangements were by Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.

Pallbearers were Lloyd Place, Chuck Place, Don Place, Dan Place and Joe Place.
