He was the son of Meredith and Catherine King and the husband of Margaret Hulsey King.
Burial was in the Burnt Schoolhouse Cemetery, Lone Rock, Arkansas.
(The grave for James King is not marked and no obituary has been located for him. The information in this constructed obituary was supplied by Mary Asplin Lambert, Edmond, Oklahoma. James King was the son of Mrs. Lambert's great great great grandparents and a brother to her great great grandmother, Eliza Louisa King Box Hulsey.)
