He was born Nov. 8, 1915, in Hollis, Okla. He grew up near Eldorado, Okla., and later lived in Muleshoe, California and Las Vegas, Nev. He was a retired building maintenance person before retiring to Bee Branch. He was a Mason. He married Alene Mahan Bennett in California.

His first wife, Florene Barber Bynum, and a daughter, Linda Nye, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years; three stepsons, Floyd Bennett of Citrus Heights, Calif., and Coleman and David Bennett, both of Bee Branch; two stepdaughters, Wanda Bryant of Plumerville, Ark., and Rebecca Gatlin of Traskwood, Ark.; a brother, Edsel of Lubbock; two grandchildren; and 12 step-grandchildren.
