Vela Estes Fudge 74 of Melbourne, died March 1, 1991 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. Ms. Fudge was a retired secretary for the Agriculture and Stabilization Conservation Service. She was a homemaker and a member of the Melbourne Church of Christ. She was the daughter of R. J. and Mary Lena Spurgin Estes.
Survivors include one daughter, Ann Fudge Lawrence of Melbourne; one sister, Anna Lee Estes Bush of Little Rock; three grandchildren, Don Eugene Lawrence of Melbourne, Julie Lawrence Weaver of Owasso, Oklahoma and Stacy Lawrence of Batesville; four great-grandchildren, Mandy Lawrence, Jeremy Lawrence, Morgan Weaver and William Weaver.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen T. Fudge; four sisters, Nova Estes, May Estes, Julia Hamm and Mary Rector and two brothers, Dale Estes and Grady Estes.
Services were held Monday March 4 at the Melbourne Church of Christ at 10 a.m. with Chuck Crow and Glen Place officiating. Pallbearers were Jerry Blankenship, Newt Blankenship, E. S. Lamb, Jr., Jim Miller, Eugene Barksdale, and Edward Billingsley. Honorary pallbearers were Malcolm Lawrence, John Copeland, Gus Campbell, Joe Campbell and Charles Miller.
Interment was at the Melbourne Cemetery under the direction of Crouch Funeral Home of Melbourne.
