John Daniel McManus, 86, died Thursday in Thornton. Mr. McManus was born Feb. 17, 1879, and was a life-long resident of Calhoun County. Survivors include: his widow, Mrs. Margaret Byron King McManus; one daughter, Mrs. Berlin Etheridge, DeWitt; four sons, Roy A. McManus, O. Merle McManus, both of Thornton, N. C. McManus, Houston, Tex., and Rev. M. H. McManus, El Dorado; 12 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Thornton. Burial will be under the direction of the Benton Funeral Home. (The El Dorado Times - March 6, 1965)
