Orie Delorie Candler, 77, of Batesville died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 1997.
Born in Coggin, Iowa, on Aug. 6, 1919, he was the son of James of Mary Candler. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was retired from farming and from Bowman Handles Mill.
Survivors include his wife, Lottie Candler; a daughter, Derlene Doffin of Southside; two sons, Alfred Candler of Athens, Ala., and Ronnie Candler of Batesville; two sisters, Fern Beel of Batesville and Ina Thomas of Shafter, Calif.; a brother, Leo Candler of Bradford; nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister and five brothers.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Oak Grove Baptist Church with James Hughes officiating. Burial will be at Hutchinson Mountain Cemetery under the direction of Batesville Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be Roy Lynn Candler, Orie Doffin, Dennis Candler, Lucan Doffin, Micheal Candler and Jeremie Candler.
