When Johnnie Mack Lawrence was born on February 2, 1914, in Mayflower, Arkansas, his father, Oscar, was 27 and his mother, Ollie, was 25. He married Florence Elmina Spann on January 29, 1933. They had two children during their marriage. He died on September 11, 1994, in Faulkner, Arkansas, at the age of 80, and was buried in his hometown.
