Son of Milas and Mary Parker Weldon

Corporal Weldon was a member of Company D, 1st Battalion, 29th Infantry Regimental Combat Team. Prior to the outbreak of hostilities, his unit was assigned to guard the Strategic Air Command bases on Okinawa. The 1st and 2nd Battalions were shipped to Korea without combat training and arrived at Pusan on July 24, 1950 and immediately trucked to Chinju. The 1st Battalion was ordered to march from Chinju to Anui on July 27 where it met a major North Korean attack. Company D was cut off and suffered heavy casualties.
