Racine- Ingrid Poole, 89, passed away at her residence on Sunday, January 1, 2012 surrounded by her loving family members.

Ingrid was born in Denmark on September 5, 1922 to Jens and Karen (nee: Kristensen) Kristiansen. She celebrated her first birthday at Ellis Island after arriving in the United States. She was very proud of her Danish heritage. Ingrid married Raydene A. Poole in Kenosha on November 1, 1944. He preceded her in 2000. They spent the early days of their marriage in Somers. In 1958, they purchased the Shore Acres Motel on North Sheridan Rd. in Somers Township and ran it until 1969. In 1976, Ingrid and Raydene moved to Arkansas, where they ran an 80 acres beef cattle farm and enjoyed their retirement. While on the farm Ingrid learned to make tomato wine, which she was extremely proud of. After the death of Raydene, She moved back to Wisconsin. She resided at Home Harbor assisted living for 4 ½ years before going to live with her daughter in 2010. Ingrid enjoyed knitting and crocheting, making all of her children and grandchildren sock monkeys. She loved to watch the Brewers play baseball and was also a Packers fan. Ingrid was a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church.

She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Carolyn Marquardt of Racine, Eileen (Bob) Grover of Steam Boat Springs, CO, Margaret "Maggie" Grevenow of Rio Rancho, NM and Melanie Foster of Kenosha; grandchildren, Lisa Squires of Kissimme, FL, Amy Tremmel of Racine, Jennifer Prokopy of Chicago, IL, Meredith Higgins of New Orleans, LA, Lauren Grover of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Dave Grevenow of Milwaukee and Steve Grevenow of Albequerque, NM; plus 6 great grandchildren; brothers, John Kristiansen of Milwaukee, Harold Kristiansen of Stamford, CT and Pete Kristiansen of Douglaston, NY and her dear lifelong friend, Jean Freeman. Ingrid is also survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Herbert and sisters, Margit and Gudrun.

No services will be held in Racine. A memorial service will take place at a later date in Arkansas. Ingrid will be laid to rest next to her husband and mother. Memorials in Ingrid's name have been suggested to Evangelical United Methodist Church.
