When Robert James Troutman was born on July 16, 1923, in Arkansas, his father, James, was 46 and his mother, Elizabeth, was 42. He married Geraldine Goff on March 14, 1942, in Faulkner Township, Arkansas. He died on April 5, 2008, in North Little Rock, Arkansas, at the age of 84, and was buried in Mayflower, Arkansas.
