Married Verda Mae Mason, January 11, 1930, Oxford, Izard County, Arkansas (according to Arkansas Marriage Records).

Thurl Franklin Davis of Oxford died Friday, December 25, 1992 in the Ozark Medical Center in West Plains, Mo., at the age of 80. He was born June 30, 1912 in Pineville, The son of the late William Oscar Davis and Arra A. Wayland.

Thurl was married to Verda Mae Mason on January 11, 1927 in Oxford. He was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. He spent his working years as a self-employed construction worker.

Survivors include; one daughter, Bobbie Jean Spies of Grandview, Mo.; four sisters, Flora Yancey of Oxford, Clela Garner of Cabot, Verdelma Whiteaker of Calico Rock and Mary Watters of Nowatta, Okla.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Services were held Monday, December 28, 1992 at 10 a.m. in the Howard Chapel in Melbourne with Brother Price Lovelace officiating.

Pallbearers were: Cecil Sherrill, David Sherrill, Ernest Blevins, Osborn Walker, Remmel Taylor and James Wood.

Burial was in the Oxford Cemetery in Oxford under the direction of the Howard Funeral Home in Melbourne.
