OXFORD — Susan Ella "Mammy" Standerford Blevins, 92, of Oxford died Sunday, March 2, 2008, in Salem.
Born Dec. 24, 1915, in Spring Hill, she was the daughter of Walter and Molly Irene Morrison Standerford. She was united in marriage to Gilbert E. "Pappy" Blevins on Oct. 5, 1932. During her working years, she traveled to Washington state to work the hop and fruit harvest. She worked at Calico Rock Nursing Home for 15 years before retiring. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Oxford.
Survivors include a son, Gerald Blevins of Oxford; three daughters, Anniece Reed and Phyllis McCurley, both of Oxford, and Patsy Campbell of Melbourne; two brothers, Seldon Standerford of Wenatchee, Wash., and Noble Standerford of Springfield, Mo.; six grandchildren, Rocky Campbell, Greg Stuart, Jerry Blevins, Toby McCurley, Tabby Cooper and Monty McCurley; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Roby Standerford, Joe Standerford and Guy Standerford; and a sister, Gladys Pierson.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Roman and Billy Howard Memorial Chapel in Melbourne. Burial will be in Oxford Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Rocky Campbell, Greg Stuart, Toby McCurley, Jerry Blevins, Monty McCurley and Rusty Campbell.
Honorary pallbearers are her great-grandchildren, John Hatfield and Tony Cooper.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight.
