Ruth Clifft a daughter of the late Thomas F. and Melvina Hutcheson Thompson was born at Newburg, Ark., on October 16, 1897 and passed away at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem, on February 25, 1979 at the age of 81 years, four months and nine days.

She was married to Joseph A. Clifft of Oxford on October 16, 1920. He preceded her in death on February 4, 1972. She is also preceded by her parents and one sister.

Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Guy Treece of Memphis,, Tenn.; one son, Larry Clifft of the home in Oxford, one sister, Miss Frankie Thompson of Oxford, one granddaughter, Mrs. David Watson of Houston, TX, one grandson, Mark Treece of Hobbs, New Mexico, other relatives and many friends.

Mrs. Clifft was a life-long resident of Izard County and most of her life was lived in Oxford,

She was a long time and faithful member of the Methodist Church.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, February 27, at 2:00 p.m. in the Oxford Methodist-Presbyterian.
