White River Current, Calico Rock, Arkansas, January 23, 1997:

Nelson Homer Grantz Jr. of T Row Holler Road near Bandmill, son of the late Nelson Grantz Sr and Jeanne Grantz, was born January 25, 1951 in Oklahoma. He died January 15, 1997 at his home. He was 45.

Mr. Grantz was a poet, a volunteer at the Calico Rock Library since 1990, an avid reader and a former member of the Calico Rock VFW. He served as a marine from March 30, 1970 to May 11, 1974 and was honorably discharged with the rank of E-3.

Survivors include a step-mother, Virginia Grantz; three sisters, Sharon Rush, Sue Rory and Debbie Gann; and two brothers, Lewis Grantz of Clinton and Robert Grantz of Batesville. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Jane Henke.

Graveside services were held January 17, 1997. The services included prayers, a reading of the 23 Psalm and the placing of poinsettias and holly. Reverend Charles Faith officiated. Interment was at the Oxford Cemetery under the direction of Eddie Howard Funeral Home in Melbourne.
