Son of Raymond Carl "Ray" & Pauline Grammer Layne
Obituary for Joseph Allen Layne:
Joseph Allen Layne son of Ray and Pauline Grammer Layne was born in Brinkley. He died March 22, 1996 in Newark at the age of 37.
Mr. Layne was an iron worker and a member of the Sulphur Rock Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph Allen Layne, Jr. and Jacob Ray Layne both of Newark; his mother Pauline Layne of Melbourne; two brothers, Michael Layne of Melbourne; and Carl Layne of Newport; four sisters, Dr. Frances Williams of Jonesboro; Jackie Melton of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Phyllis Bryant of San Jose, New Mexico and Diana Coogan of Safety Harbor, Florida. He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services were March 25 at Crouch Chapel in Batesville with the Reverend Barry Goff.
Pallbearers were Charles Norris, Tommy Qualls, Obbie Gardner, Greg Holcomb, Randy Hendrix and John Hall.
Honorary pallbearers were Dennis Carpenter, Wyth Duke, Chuck Coogan and Jerry Williams.
Burial was at Oxford Cemetery with arrangements by Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville.
