John S WEAVER

Mount Moriah (aka Old Mount Moriah) Cemetery
Nevada County,
Arkansas

1823 in Tennessee - 1906

"John S. Weaver was born in Tennessee in the year 1823, and is the son of Wilson Weaver, who was in the War of 1812 under Jackson at New Orleans, and died in 1881,being ninety-three years old. Mr. Weaver passed his youth in Tennessee, and at the age of fifteen moved to Mississippi, remaining there about six years, and moving to Arkansas in 1844. At that time the State was decidely a wilderness in many parts, and the subject of our sketch proceeded immediately to build himself a log house in the heart of the forest, and at the end of eleven years moved to the place where he now resides, entering 400 acres of land, which now yields him a splendid income, and puts him in a position to take a prominent part in the public affairs of his county. Enlisting in the Civil War in 1862, Mr. Weaver participated in numerous battles and skirmishes, and was with Price's raid through Missouri. The company disbanded in 1865, at Marshall, Tex. In November, 1843, he married Miss Louisa Hodge, daughter of William Hodge, of Mississippi. Thier eleven children are all well and happily married. Naturally a history of any county can not relate all the important events in the life of the popular and well-known citizens, and can only give a brief idea of the fame that clings to them, and the degree in which they have achieved success."
