IRIS VIRGINIA BURNS ROWDEN, formerly of Oxford, Arkansas, daughter of the late James and Emma McAnally Burns, was born July 28, 1897, in Franklin, Arkansas. She departed this life Saturday afternoon, May 11, 1991, at the White River Health Care Center, in Calico Rock, Arkansas, at the age of 93 years, 9 months, and 13 days.
Iris was united in marriage to Gordon Houston Rowden, on December 19, 1920, in Franklin, Arkansas, and to this union two daughters were born.
Mrs. Rowden spent her working years as a wife, mother, homemaker, and was a member of the Oxford Methodist Church.
Mrs. Rowden leaves to mourn her passing two daughters: Jimmie Lee Whiteaker, Calico Rock, Arkansas; Helen G. Rhea, Salem, Arkansas; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandchild; one brother: Jesse Burns, Wiseman, Arkansas; One sister: Oma Taylor, Melbourne, Arkansas; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
