John Franklin “Frankie” Miller of Independence, Missouri, son of the late Martha Beatrice Miller Mitchell was born January 7, 1918 in Bandmill. He died April 30, 1996 at his home in Independence, Missouri. He was 78.

Mr. Miller was united in marriage to Velda Marie Rhoades December 24, 1946 in Melbourne. To this union, two daughters were born. He spent his working years as a farmer. He was a retired assembler for General Motors, a United States Air Force Veteran of World War 11, a member of V.F.W. Post 1000, the Disabled American Veterans, General Motors Union U.A.W. Local 31 and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters, Janis June Miller of Kansas City, Missouri and Jacqueline Sue Mosier of Independence, Missouri; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of other friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his mother and one brother, L. E. Owens.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 4, 1996 at 1:00 p.m. at Cox-Estes Chapel in Salem with Brother Loye Vern Mason officiating.

Interment will be be at Oxford Cemetery under the direction of Cox-Estes Funeral Home in Salem.

Visitation will be Friday afternoon, May 3 beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Cox-Estes Chapel in Salem.
