FAYETTEVILLE — Robert Leroy Jeske, 76, of Fayetteville died March 13, 1996, at his home. He was born July 6, 1919, at Cushing, Okla., to Otto Ferdinand and Clara Berger Jeske. He was a Christian and taught school at Bartlesville, Okla., and at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla. In 1947, he came to the mechanical engineering department at the University of Arkansas, retiring in 1990 as an associate professor, after teaching for 43 years. He served as a civilian instructor in the Navy and was an officer on the Sarita during World War II. He received a bachelor of arts degree and a master's degree from Oklahoma State University and was a member of Phi Delta Kappa and many professional organizations. He was also a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where he was Sunday school superintendent for many years and held other offices of the church.
Survivors include his wife, Bertha Carolena Seifert Jeske of the home, to whom he was married April 1, 1945; four children, Roberta Carol Lay of Merriam, Kan., Dr. Leroy Otto Jeske of Broken Arrow, Okla., Paul Ernest Jeske of Corvallis, Ore., and Dorothea Clara Emamian of Edmond, Okla.; one brother, Harold Otto Jeske of Albuquerque, N.M.; eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church with Roger Schoolcraft officiating. Burial will be in National Cemetery at Fayetteville under the direction of Moore's Chapel of Fayetteville.
