HINDSVILLE — Edward J. Bowen, 78, of Hindsville, Ark., died July 30, 2010, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Ark. He was born July 23, 1932 at Springdale, Ark., the son of Eddie and Bertie Thomas Bowen.

He was a residential construction contractor and raised in the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by two infant daughters, his parents and one brother, Maurice Bowen of Amarillo, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Stacy Leigh Schmidt Bowen of the home; two daughters and one son-in-law, Glenda and Harold Young of Springdale, Ark., and Brenda Fields of Siloam Springs, Ark.; two sisters, Geneva Ingram of Yakima, Wash., and Juanita Ellenbarger of Springdale, Ark.; three grandsons, Heath Young, fiancee Cindy Shepherd of Springdale, Ark., Brian Young, wife, Amanda, of Fayetteville, Ark., and Brad Crabtree, wife Kim, of Ainsworth, Neb.; and three great-grandsons, Tanner Crabtree and Takoda Crabtree, both of Ainsworth, Neb., and Cade Young of Fayetteville, Ark.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Williams officiating. Interment will be in the Joyce Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home, www.brashearsfuneralhome.net, of Huntsville, Ark.

Pallbearers will be Scott Phillips, Jackie Ray Clark, Dennis Roles, Devin Glenn, Justin Usrey and Chase Sutherlan. Honorary pallbearers will be Audie Scroggins, Ralph Parsons, Ellis Goodwin, Steve Dimes, Tonto Shepherd and Harry Joyner.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
