Mrs. Ruth Geneva "Mama King" King, 94, of Hamburg, died Sunday, June 19, 2011 at her residence. Mrs. King was a native of the Norrell Spur Community outside of Hamburg and a resident of Hamburg for most of her life. She worked at the Hamburg Shirt Factory and WAM for many years. She was the oldest member of Southside Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, William B. "Bill" King in 1985; a son, Billy King; three daughters, Nancy Gail Barnett, Mary Smith & Vickie King; four sons-in-law, Lonnie Griffith, Jackie Streeter, Billy Smith and Vernon Woods; her parents, Oscar & Eunice Curry Norrell; two brothers, one sister, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is survived by two sons, Bruce King and wife, Darlene, and Reggie King all of Hamburg; five daughters, Barbara Woods and Dixie Fairchild and husband, Floyd, all of Hamburg; Peggy Woods and husband, Max, of Crossett; Patty Griffith of Fountain Hill and Susan Savage and husband, Eddie Dean, of Hamburg; three sisters, Virginia Hearn of Crossett, Francis Corker of Dallas, Texas and Lefreda Johnson of Hamburg; 35 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren, 65 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild. Funeral services are 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at the Southside Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Carlock Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Southside Baptist Church, 1508 HWY 425 S., Hamburg, AR 71646.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
