Herschel born Pineville, Izard County, Arkansas died Gassville, Baxter County, Arkansas. Ruthie born in Izard County, Arkansas died Clinton, Henry County, Missouri.

The White River Current, Calico Rock, Arkansas, May 5, 1995:

Herschel Cyril Wood of Gassville, son of Harvey Walton and Caroline Powell Wood was born on December 14, 1920 at Pineville. He died May 2, 1995 at his home, following a lengthy illness. He was 74 years of age.

Mr. Wood was married to Ruthie Skidmore on June 20, 1942. The marriage lasted until her death in 1977. Five children were born to this union.

Mr. Wood served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a Protestant and worked as a millwright until his retirement in 1983.

Mr. Wood is survived by his wife, Judith Villers; five children, Wayne Wood of Bexar; Delores Hall of Calico Rock; Mitch Wood of Cannelton, Indiana; Norman Wood of Fort Collins, Colorado; and Neccica Hayes of Columbus, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Waynna Dockins of Dolph; Michael Hall of Calico Rock; Howard Hall of Cave City; Kevin Wood of Tell City, Indiana; Lisa Sanders of Calico Rock; Carrie Wood of Kent, Ohio; and Cy Wood of Cannelton, Indiana; four stepchildren, John Rosencrans of Selfride, North Dakota; Bonnie Pond of Towner, North Dakota; Alisa Rosecrans of Rugby, North Dakota; and Stepheny Elliott of Gassville; also surviving are eleven step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters and one step-grandson.

Services are May 4, at Howard Chapel in Calico Rock with Reverend Carl Cook officiating.

Pallbearers were Mike Hall, Howard Hall, Wayne Ward, Ron Carstairs, Walter Highfill, and Jimmy Bybee.

Interment was at Trimble Campground Cemetery in Dolph under the direction of Howard Funeral Home in Calico Rock.

Ruthie Jane Wood, age 54 of Warsaw, Mo., died Thursday, May 19, 1977 in Clinton, Missouri. She was born December 20, 1922 to William and Amanda Sanders Skidmore, was a housewife, a member of the Campground Presbyterian Church and a resident of Warsaw for 4 years, after living in Indiana.

Survivors include: her husband Herschel Wood of his home; 3 sons, Wayne Wood of Calico Rock, Ark., Mitchell Wood of Tell City, Ind., and Norman Wood of the home; 2 daughters, Deloris Hall of Calico Rock, Ark., and Neccica Wood of the home; her father, William Skidmore of Dolph, Ark.; 1 sister, Reathel Richardson of Price, Utah; 2 half-sisters, Ella Hogan of Cherry Valley, Ark., and Joyce Parnell of Norfork, Ark., and 6 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 22, 1977 at 4 p.m. at the Howard Chapel with Rev. Price Lovelace and Rev. Edwin Sain officiating. Burial was at the Campground Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Arthur Langston, Jay Dixon, Sid Skidmore, Troyce May, Vernon Neal and Ottie Russell.

Arrangements were made by Howard Funeral Home.
