SPRINGDALE — Andrew Jackson "Jack" Boyd, 91, of Springdale died April 4, 2008, at the Department of Veterans Affairs home in Fayetteville. He was born Oct. 17, 1916, at Hindsville to Jesse and Elizabeth Hardin Boyd.

He retired from the Physical Plant Department of the University of Arkansas and was later employed by Tyson's Foods in Springdale. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy and was an ordained Baptist minister in the Free Will Baptist Ministry.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Smith Ball Boyd of the home; two stepsons, George Ball and wife, Louise, of Lowell, and Stephen Ball of Elm Springs; three stepdaughters, June Ball-Scott and husband, Bob, of Springdale, Phyllis Turner-Sisk and husband, Ron, of Huntsville and Alberta Homola Shepherd of Plainfield, Ill.; seven stepgrandchildren; 17 stepgreatgrandchildren and four brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Brashears Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Payne officiating. Interment will be in the Burkshed Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home of Huntsville. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Mike Pennington, Steve Ball, Jeff Ball, Ted Points, Ron Sisk and Bob Scott.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Harmon, Keith Harmon, Paul Smith and Curtis Smith. An online guestbook is available at www.brashearsfuneralhome. net.
