(from Droke) The entire community was made sad last Monday when a message announcing the death of Horace, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Woods, at Camp Pike, the result of influenza and pneumonia. The body arrived Friday morning and funeral services were conducted that afternoon at the home by Rev. Peter Carnahan, Burial was held Saturday at the Gamble cemetery near where he was born and raised. Horace was 24 years old and like so many more of our young men, gave his life for his country. George, another son, who is also at Camp Pike, was unable to come home. The grief stricken parents and brother have the sympathy of the entire community in this sad hour.
