Goldie Delilah Cooksey Forrest of Melbourne, daughter of the late James and Eula Rogers Cooksey, was born March 25, 1910 in Violet Hill. She died January 11, 2001, at the Medical Center of Calico Rock. She was 90.

Mrs. Forrest was united in marriage to Sterling Doyle Forrest October 3, 1929. She was a member of Forrest Chapel United Methodist Church, a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Izard County.

Survivors include one son, Daniel Forrest and wife, Betty Loggains Forrest; one granddaughter, Beverly Forrest Barnes and husband Louis Barnes; two great-granddaughters, Nicole and Kimberly Barnes, all of Melbourne; one sister, Vessie Nee Cooksey; one brother, Jessie Lee Cooksey, both of El Dorado. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters, Georgie Estelle Cooksey Hames and Johnnie Millie Cooksey.

Funeral service were held January 13, 2001 at Forrest Chapel Methodist Church in Violet Hill with Loye Verne Mason officiating. Pallbearers were Bill Wright, Kenny Morrison, Bob Rector, Bob Rush, James Haney and Lowell Wheelis. Honorary pallbearers were Ray Blevins and Billy Gates.

Note: In the obituary for Sterling Doyle Forrest, the son was listed as Dariol Forrest instead of Daniel Forrest.
