September 10, 1937 - August 4, 1973
Donald C. Stephens, 35, local accountant, died Saturday afternoon in a local hospital after a lengthy illness. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Stephens graduated from Stephens High School, and attended Southern State College, Magnolia, and the University of Oklahoma, at Norman. He was a Methodist. He was a certified public accountant, and a member of the National Society of Public Accountants. He had been affiliated with a CPA office in Stephens with his father, the late Dolph S. Stephens, and later was associated with King Resources of Denver, Colo. At the time of his death, he was part owner of The Retreat Club. Mr. Stephens, the grandson of the late Kate Smith and Herbert Lynwood Curry of Stephens, is survived by his mother, Mrs. Mable Curry Stephens of Camden. Funeral services were to be held today at 10:30 a.m. at Proctor's Chapel, with burial in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, near Stephens. Pallbearers included Duncan Grayson, Allen Curry, Sam L. Curry, Bill Dix, Donald R. McKissack, James Marvin Morgan, Dr. Cal R. Sanders, Dr. Jerry Kendall, Dr. Alfred Kahn., Jr., Se. J. A. Womack, and Dr. Judson Hout. (Camden News - August 6, 1973)
