Sarah - September 25, 1857 - June 21, 1948

Stephens, June 22 - Mrs. Sarah Smelser, aged 90, died in a Magnolia hospital Monday from injuries received in a fall last Friday. She suffered a broken hip and other injuries in the accident. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock at Mount Prospect Cemetery in Stephens, by the Rev. J. A. Newell and the Rev. G. N. Cannon. Mrs. Smelser was a life-long member of the Methodist Church and was active in all church and civic work until her death. She is survived by one son, W. M. Smelser, of Stephens. Also several grandchildren: Arppie Wilson, of Elk City, Okla; John Taylor of Oklahoma City; Mrs. Marie Trance of California; Earl Taylor and William Taylor of Jonesboro: Cal Taylor, and Joe Taylor, both of Stanford, Ark.; and Mrs. Sylvia Harrington of Stanford.
