Mrs. Rosie Lee Jeffers, 87, of Hamburg died Friday, July 19, 2002, at the Beverly Health Care in Hamburg. A native and lifelong resident of Hamburg, she was a homemaker and a member of the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Jeffers, in 1992; one son, Robert Jeffers; one grandson, Mark Hobbs; two sons-in-law, Alpha Peebles and Billy Hobbs; her parents, Robert and Omalia Burgess Johnson; three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include four daughters, Frances Hobbs of DeRitter, LA, Clara Carter and husband Rev. Jerry Carter of Springhill, LA; Mattie Peebles of Thomson, GA, and Betty Wells and husband Charles Wells of Hamburg; a brother, James Johnson of Marion, IL; a sister, Mattie Murry of Murphysboro, IL; twelve grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, July 22, in the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church with Revs. Barry Carter and Kenny Williams officiating. Pallbearers were James Hobbs, John Hobbs, Allan Wells, Jim Wells, Bobby Brown and Hershell Franks. Burial followed services at the Promise Land Cemetery, directed by Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church Family Life Center, P. O. Box 30, Hamburg, AR 71646.
