Bill Kiser, 40 year old tenant farmer living on the Chester Williams farm in Mason Valley, died at 7 o'clock last Thursday following his attempt to kill himself early that morning. He shot himself with at .22 revolver twice in the head. Kiser had left his home about three o'clock last Thursday morning and was found later in a ditch beside the road in an unconscious condition with two bullet wounds in his head. John Wallace and Homer Scoggins, neighbors, found his body as they were driving along the road. A .22 target rifle was found beside him. Andy M. Smith, justice of the peace at Vaughn, summoned a jury of six men for an inquest. They returned a verdict of suicide. Kiser was brought to Bentonville for medical attention. Finding there was no hopes for his recovery he was taken back to his home where he died a short time afterwards. Besides his widow he is survived by five children, two of them by a former marriage. Despondence over ill health was blamed for his act. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Mason Valley Church, the Rev. Clarence Coffelt conducting the services. Burial was made in the Barron cemetery.
